In spring Shinjuku Gyoen becomes one of the best places in the city to see cherry blossoms. Shinjuku Gyoen is comprised of three different types of gardens: The oldest is a traditional Japanese landscape garden featuring large ponds dotted with islands and bridges. Well manicured shrubs and trees surround the water together with several pavilions and the Kyu Goryotei which was built on the occasion of the wedding of the Showa Emperor. The park's other main gardens include a symmetrically arranged formal French garden, and an English landscape garden featuring wide, open lawns surrounded by flowering cherry trees and with many tropical and subtropical flowers. Shinjuku Gyoen is home to a large number of cherry trees of more than a dozen different varieties. From late March to early April, more than 400 somei yoshino trees blossom around the English garden turning the lawns into one of Tokyo's most popular and pleasant hanami spots.

Here we visit Edo Castle’s moat and scroll along the Imperial Palace, Chidorigafuchi. The Chiyoda Sakura Festival is held at the same time, so for the duration of the cherry blossom season the trees are lit up at night. This magical sight draws Tokyoites and visitors alike. Enjoy an evening walk under the glowing tunnel of flowers and in season the surface of the moat is almost completely covered in petals, creating the illusion of an ethereal pink river.

Experience the wonderful feeling of spring season by drifting through a carpet of fallen pedals and into the pink trees.
You will get an opportunity for a boating in the moat and enjoy the wonderful feeling of drifting through a carpet of fallen pedals and into the pink trees. As the trees are towering so high and bending so low, you can easily row underneath them and be completely surrounded by pink pedals. From above and below. It really is a dream all in pink! This spot is super popular but hasn’t been discovered by most international tourists yet and is therefore still a great getaway. Around 260 Yoshino trees line the green Chidorigafuchi moat and bend over the quiet waters due to their heavy load of white and soft pink sakura blossoms. Later transfer to hotel. The Ninomaru Palace is the main attraction of the castle. It is very well preserved, and has intricately decorated ceilings, elegantly painted sliding doors, tatami (bamboo mat) floors, and "nightengale floors," which squeak when walked on. The purpose of those floors was to serve as an alert against intruders. Located about 7km west of downtown Kyoto, Arashiyama is one of Kyoto’s most popular sightseeing districts. The heart of the district is the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a mesmerizing grove of thousands of tall bamboo plants. A paved walkway runs through the middle of both sections, forming the famous “Bamboo Alley,” one of Kyoto’s most photographed sights. The combined length is about 500 meters, and the grove is about 140 meters wide. In the middle of the eastern section, near the main street, you’ll find Nonomiya-jinja Shrine, a popular Shinto Shrine, while on the southern edge of the western section, you’ll find the beautiful gardens and halls of Tenryu-ji Temple, one of Kyoto’s most beautiful Buddhist temples. Many people wonder about the meaning or purpose of the bamboo grove. As a matter of fact, it’s merely decorative. Arashiyama has been a favorite location of imperial and noble villas and temples from the days of classical Japan.

Here we visit Togetsukyo Bridge. Arashiyama becomes most attractive around early April when the cherry blossom seasons usually peak. The Togetsukyo Bridge is Arashiyama's most iconic landmark. It was originally built during the Heian Period (794-1185) and most recently reconstructed in the 1930s. Built over Kyoto’s former commerce center along the Oi River – which literally translates to “Moon-Crossing Bridge” – is Arashiyama’s scenic landmark straight from a ukiyo-e painting. With a backdrop of fall foliage and full-blown cherry blossoms in the spring, this emblematic structure spans 155 meters – as if the wooden path would literally stretch to the moon. The poetic name was in fact inspired by the Emperor Kameyama, who witnessed a luminous moon rising above the upper reaches of the river, appearing as though the moon itself was crossing the bridge. Later we transfer to Kyoto. Dinner and overnight stay at Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo or similar in Kyoto.
